A Foundation
One of the biggest impacts of the Harlem Renaissance was that it gave the African-American community a foundation to build on in the fight for civil rights. The artistic recognition from the worldwide audience gave African-Americans a sense of pride and self-determination, which was much different than what they were used to in the racist South.
